Is Speak Mandarin Club suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. Beginners are welcome. The Placement Check is sent after a prospective class reaches the minimum enrollment so I can understand each child’s current level before finalising the class.
Are classes taught entirely in Mandarin?
Mandarin is the main language used in class so children receive plenty of authentic listening exposure and opportunities to respond in Mandarin. Tracy Laoshi can communicate with parents in English when needed.
What happens if my child misses a class?
For pair and group classes, missed classes are not made up. Please let me know in advance when possible, and a class recording can be provided for review. For 1-to-1 classes, please provide at least two days’ notice and we can coordinate a make-up lesson when possible.
Do students need to buy a textbook?
No. Tuition includes teacher-created Speak Mandarin digital course materials and printable worksheets.
Does a conversation course mean children will not learn to write at all?
I believe in a gradual progression through listening, speaking, reading and writing, while keeping cognitive load manageable for children. This course focuses on listening and speaking, with appropriate Hanyu Pinyin and basic character recognition to build a foundation for later reading and writing.
What device does my child need?
A desktop computer, laptop or iPad with a stable internet connection is recommended. Please choose a quiet learning space. Headphones with a microphone are also recommended.
How are students grouped?
Students are grouped according to compatible schedules, preferred class format and Mandarin level. The Placement Check is used before final class confirmation. Families may also register with friends or study buddies.
Can children from the same family or friends join together?
Yes. A 5% Family Discount is available when two or more children from the same family enroll in the same term. Students who register together with enough friends or study buddies to meet the minimum class size may receive a 5% Group Registration Discount. Discounts cannot be combined.
How do I pay?
Payment is requested only after the class has been confirmed. Payment can be made by PayPal or bank transfer in TWD.
